BURKE ATTENDANCE POLICY

Excellent attendance is necessary for excellent progress in school. The responsibility for daily attendance and prompt arrival to school belongs to students as well as parents.  We want all students in school each and every day by 7:45 a.m. so that we can prepare them for college and career success. 

7:30 a.m.      Students may enter the building. Breakfast begins.
7:45 a.m.      Official start of school day
8:05 a.m.      Students are considered Tardy
9:15 a.m.      Arrival after 9:15 a.m. will be recorded as ½ day
2:15 p.m.      Early dismissals end
2:45 p.m.      Dismissal 

Absences and late arrivals will be recorded by the school and will appear on the student’s report card and student record.  There are only four acceptable causes of absence according to the School Code of Illinois.  They are:  

• Illness
• Death in the immediate family 
• Family emergency
• Observance of a religious holiday

We need your children in school everyday!  We look forward to achieving historic gains, and this year, we have set a rigorous goal that 96% of students will be in school, each day!

School hours are 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. daily.  The doors will open for breakfast each day at 7:30 a.m.
